Fiona Crawford is an artist living on Wurundjeri Country in Melbourne. Her art practice includes painting, printmaking, textiles, works on paper and sculpture.

Fiona’s work stretches and extends figurative representations of women as unknown artists, artisans and makers. Embracing the history of high and low art, Fiona takes female stories and artefacts into painting, sculpture and printmaking, then pushes the image back into contemporary textiles and works on paper.

Of particular interest is the notion of the unknown woman, hidden yet seen, carrying a story, an internal landscape of her own. Her more recent works explore insight into identity, memory and materiality through the combination of contemporary and traditional imagery, form and palettes.
